Hi! My name is Sydney Aldridge, and I am thrilled to join the About Play team. I discovered About Play while exploring a career transition outside of the classroom, and I immediately knew it was the right fit for me. I previously spent five years working in Berkeley County Schools, where I had the privilege of supporting some truly incredible students. During that time, I developed a deep passion for fostering supportive, inclusive environments for individuals with a wide range of intellectual disabilities.
I have called Charleston home since 2021, though I am originally from Northern Virginia. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Longwood University, where I also met my husband. After graduating, we made the decision to move south and begin this exciting chapter together. We now have a daughter and a Goldendoodle, and we are enjoying life to the fullest.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my time in the classroom was building meaningful relationships with my students and watching them grow and thrive. I am especially excited about the opportunity to not only form connections with children but also to partner with their families. Family is incredibly important to me, and I have seen firsthand the lasting impact that supporting and educating families can have on a child’s future. I am eager to bring this passion into my work in the early intervention field.
In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, listening to live music, and searching for the best coffee in the Lowcountry!
