Hi everyone! My name is Nakyra Mathis. I recently graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, with a degree in sociology and a minor in social sciences. One of my most memorable moments during my college career was becoming a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. because I was able to become apart of an amazing sisterhood and community. Through my faith in God, my family, and my friends, I am inspired and encouraged to push through any and every obstacle that I may face in life. They are what keeps me going! My passion for working with children is largely due to my grandmother opening her own daycare as well as both my grandparents working within the foster care system. Because of this, I have been able to develop special relationships with a number of children throughout the years, and they have left such an inspiring imprint on my heart.
A few hobbies I enjoy doing in my free time, including trying new cooking recipes, listening to music, dancing, and spending time with my family and friends. I’m so excited to be a part of the About Play family as well as excited to be able to work with children and their families!
