Hey, my name Dequasia Simmons. I was born and raised in Florence, SC. I’ve graduated from the University of South Carolina Upstate with a bachelor’s in Child Development and Family Studies. Growing up, I was always surrounded by children. As a result, taking care of children has become second nature. During my last semester, I interned with Quality Counts, which is a community-based childcare that assists in providing children with high quality education. From that experience, I learned that developmentally appropriate practices have proven a key to a child’s success. I’ve also heard about early intervention from my fellow classmates, who would discuss how vital intervention programs are for children. Therefore, I knew early intervention was the pathway to go. I appreciate spending quality time with family and friends. We would go to the beach, movies, fishing, and shopping for clothes. During my free time, I would relax outside and enjoy nature. I look forward to creating a positive impact for children and families. Also, witnessing the smiles on the children’s faces brings me joy. Therefore, I’m proud to be a part of About Play.
