Hi! My name is Colleen Taylor, and I am so excited to be a part of the About Play team. I heard about the company after researching different early interventionist companies in my area. About Play closely stood for everything I am passionate about and more. I prayed about a career switch from the classroom to early intervention prior to applying, and when offered the opportunity to work for About Play, I felt as if this is where the Lord wants me to be.
I am from Florida but have called South Carolina home for the last 22 years. I attended Limestone in 2017, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in social work. For the last four years, I have worked in the classroom setting. For the past year and a half, I have worked as a 3K/4k special education assistant.
I am excited to bring everything I have learned in the classroom into my new role as an Early Interventionist. In addition to my experience in the classroom, I also have an 8-year-old son with autism. I have always been passionate about helping families navigate services. I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be after a diagnosis. I am passionate about creating an inclusive environment and helping children reach their goals through play. All while still making a personal connection with my families and being able to relate on a personal level of what they are going through emotionally.
I am excited about the company because of what they stand for. I love that their goal is exactly what I am passionate about: Nurturing families and meeting their child’s developmental needs.
I have been with my husband for 12 years. We have three boys—Brayden is 8, Jensen is 6, and Camden is going to be 1 in January. I love to be outdoors and spend all my free time I have with them. I cannot wait to connect with families and hopefully make a positive difference in the community.
