Hi, my name is Shelsey. I am from Newberry, SC. In 2019 I began working with children as a counselor at the local YMCA. I worked the summer camp as well as after-school/child-watch programs. Since then, I have also worked at multiple licensed childcare facilities and have gained lots of skills working alongside great staffs and kids. As far as my educational background, I graduated top 6% of my high school class. Four years later, I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. While at Coastal Carolina, I partook in peer mentoring roles at the school as well as volunteered for programs outside of school as a tutor for young children from underprivileged backgrounds/communities. I came across About Play when searching for new job opportunities and it immediately resonated with what I want to do. I knew it was the step I needed to take in order to expand my career in the direction I wanted. I am super excited to help these families and children reach developmental milestones and be a part of something so impactful!
My hobbies include painting, making custom clothing pieces, trying new food spots, and traveling. I also enjoy spending my free time with friends and family, or just relaxing at home watching a good television series!
